A thermostatic shower (for example the Buzz2, Carre or Prism models) keeps your water temperature constant by automatically balancing hot and cold, so you won't get sudden scalds or chills when someone uses another tap. It's particularly useful for family bathrooms or properties with variable water pressure. Standard exposed or bar mixers are simpler and cheaper, but they don't give the same level of temperature stability. If safety and comfort matter to you especially with children or elderly users thermostatic is the better choice.

For a small basin, compact basin mixers or two-handle pillar taps such as the 1901 or Cobalt basin mixer work well because they take up little space and keep the basin usable. For a bath, go for a bath filler or bath shower mixer like the Nero bath filler or Nero bath shower mixer to provide a neat deck-mounted or showering solution. In the kitchen choose a high-neck or pull-out model Monza Easyfit or Liquorice pull-out—so you can fill pans and rinse vegetables easily without compromising sink workspace.

Easyfit and Fast Fit models (for example Monza Easyfit or Zing2 Fast Fit) are designed to simplify the plumbing connections and speed up installation, reducing labour time on site. Clicker waste on basin mixers (seen on models like the Cobalt with clicker waste) means the drain opens and closes with a simple press rather than a separate pop-up lever, making use more straightforward. These features save time and can lower installation fuss if you or your plumber prefer quicker, cleaner fitting.

Chrome finishes are the most common across the collection and are hard-wearing and easy to wipe clean, which is why many Bristan taps and showers such as the Nero and Java are chrome-plated. Brushed finishes (seen on Monza in brushed) hide water marks and fingerprints better, making them a good choice for busy kitchens. Black finishes give a modern, striking look (for example Craze or Liquorice) but may show limescale more visibly, so you'll want to wipe them regularly if you have hard water.

Concealed mixers (like the Prism or Sonique2 concealed models) sit behind the wall for a minimal, designer look and free up shower wall space, ideal for contemporary tiled enclosures. Exposed valves (such as the Regency or Colonial rainfall exposed mixers) fix to the wall surface and are easier to access for maintenance, which suits older properties or where you want a traditional aesthetic. If you're renovating and want a sleek finish, concealed is worth the extra planning; if you prefer simplicity and easier servicing, choose exposed.
