Towel Radiator Valves

Look at where your pipework meets the radiator. Angled valves suit side inlet radiators with pipes coming up from below or bottom‑inlet radiators with pipes coming out of the wall; straight valves suit side inlet radiators with pipework running along the wall or bottom inlets with pipes from the floor; corner valves are for side inlets where pipework comes from the wall or bottom inlets with pipework running along the wall. Match the valve type to that orientation and you'll avoid awkward pipe bends. If you're unsure, note the valve connection types included in our range on each product before you buy.

Thermostatic valves let you set and maintain a precise temperature, which is useful if you want the radiator to stay at a comfortable level or to save energy in a bathroom that's used at different times. Manual valves are simpler and usually cheaper, so they suit rooms where you control temperature centrally or don't need fine adjustments. Many packs in our range come as thermostatic valve and lockshield bundles, giving both control and balance. If you have an ensuite you use often, thermostatic is a practical choice; for a seldom‑used guest bathroom, manual will do.

Valves come in modern and traditional styles and finishes such as chrome, black, anthracite, brushed brass, white and nickel, so you can match them to your towel rail and other fixtures. Chrome‑plated brass is the standard here and gives a rust‑free, long life while matching chrome accessories; choose brushed brass or old English brass for a warming traditional look, or anthracite/black for a contemporary contrast. Some valve ranges are available in two finishes, so you can pick a close match to your taps or towel rail. pick a cross‑head chrome valve with a classic radiator or a square anthracite thermostatic valve for a sleek modern rail.

Many packs include a lockshield,26 of the products in our range note lockshield included,while other valve sets do not, so check the product details. A lockshield is used to balance the radiator and set flow after installation, which helps the rail heat evenly. If the pack you like doesn't include a lockshield, you'll need to add one to get the best performance from your towel radiator. Buying a valve pack that already includes both valve and lockshield is often the simplest option.

The vast majority of valves included in our range use a 15mm connection size, which is the common size for domestic towel rail pipework. Check your radiator tails or pipework measurement against the 15mm specification shown on product pages. If your pipes are a different size, you'll need an appropriate adaptor or a valve specified for that size, but for most installations a 15mm valve will fit straight away.
