How do I work out the right panel sizes for my bath?

Measure the length of the long side and the exposed short end of your bath, then match those to the available lengths; side panel lengths include 1651–1700mm and 1701–1800mm, while end panels are typically 601–800mm. Also check the panel height against your bath rim: most panels come in heights of 500–599mm or 600–749mm. A standard 1700mm bath with a 550mm rim normally needs a 1700mm side panel and a 700mm end panel.

What's the difference between side, end and side & end panel packs and which do I need?

A side panel covers the long side of the bath, an end panel covers the short exposed end, and a side & end pack gives you both panels in the same style and finish. If your bath has one exposed end you'll need an end panel; if both the long side and one end are visible, a side & end pack such as the 1700/700mm packs gives a perfectly matched look. Choose the pack when you want identical profiles and finishes without mixing pieces.

Are MDF panels suitable for bathrooms and can you cut them to size?

Yes, most panels here are made from MDF and are noted for being easy to cut to fit, which makes them practical if you need slight adjustments. MDF delivers good build quality but is vulnerable if raw edges are left exposed to water, so finish or seal any cuts to prevent swelling. There is also one MFC option, which has a melamine face that can be slightly more moisture-resistant, but both still benefit from sealed edges.

How do I choose between black gloss and matt black finishes?

Black gloss, like the Ceramica gloss panels, creates a striking monochrome feature and contrasts well with white sanitaryware, but shows water spots and reflections more readily and wipes clean easily. Matt black, as offered by Hudson Reed, gives a softer, contemporary feel and hides fingerprints and reflections better, so it suits modern ensuites. Pick gloss for a bold, traditional-meets-modern look, or matt for a calm, low-reflection finish.

Can I mix and match brands or join different profile types, such as tongue & groove with traditional?

You can mix brands, but ensure the panels share the same height and the correct lengths, otherwise seams and gaps will show; profile compatibility matters too because tongue & groove panels are designed to interlock neatly. If you want a seamless joint, choose a matching side & end pack (like the Park Lane 1700/700 packs) or make sure both pieces use the same profile. Mixing a tongue & groove side with a different-profile end may still work, but expect a visible junction and check measurements carefully.
