How do I choose the right wattage heating element for your Terma heated towel rail?

Look at the rail size and the room type: Terma MEG elements come in 200W, 300W, 400W, 600W and 800W, so a small cloakroom might be fine with 200–300W, a standard bathroom 400–600W, and a large or poorly insulated bathroom will benefit from 800W. If you already run central heating and want a dual-fuel setup, you can use a lower electric wattage for top-up heat, but if you need the rail to be the primary heat source choose a higher wattage. Check the specific rail's heat output (BTU or watts) and match the element so it meets or slightly exceeds that output. a tall ladder rail in a family bathroom often works well with a 600W element.

What's the practical difference between the Terma MOA Blue smart element and the MEG heating element?

The MOA Blue is a smart element (the 800W variant shown) that connects to iOS and Android so you can schedule and control the rail from your phone, ideal if you want remote control and routines. MEG elements are straightforward chrome heating elements available in multiple wattages (200–800W) and are a simpler, lower-cost option when you don't need app control. Choose MOA Blue where convenience and smart control matter; pick MEG when you need a specific lower wattage or prefer a basic manual solution. Both types are designed for Terma heated towel rails and radiators, so compatibility is clear.

How do Terma Vario Twins integrated valves work and how do you know whether to order left or right?

Vario Twins are integrated valve sets made for Terma radiators with 50mm hex connections and come as left or right sets depending on which side the supply pipe enters when you face the radiator. If the incoming pipework is on the right-hand side as you look at the rail, you order the right set; the left set is for pipework entering on the left. These valve sets are available in finishes such as bright copper, sparkling grey, soft black and mustard, so you can match the rail's colour. Many sets include pipe masking for a neat finish around the connection.

When do you need a T-piece for dual fuel conversion and which finish should you buy?

You need a T-piece when converting a towel rail to dual fuel so you can have both central heating valves and an electric element installed simultaneously; Terma T-pieces are specifically offered for that conversion. They come in chrome, matt black and white finishes, so pick the finish that matches your valves or the rail's fittings for a consistent look. The T-piece is a small but essential part of a dual-fuel setup and is inexpensive compared with the rest of the system. if you have chrome valves, the chrome T-piece will give the cleanest visual match.

Will the pipe masking sets and the Terma stand shelf hide pipework and work with my rail?

Yes, the Terma pipe masking set included in our range is designed for integrated 50mm connections and will neatly conceal the visible pipe runs where your Vario Twin valves connect. If you have a Terma stand towel rail, there is a 400mm oak shelf specifically made to clip onto the stand and add a practical storage surface while matching the rail's dimensions. The pipe masking set is intended to work with the integrated valve geometry (50mm hex), so confirm your connection size before ordering. pairing a Vario Twins valve set with the matching pipe masking will give a flush, finished look at the wall.
