First identify where the radiator inlet is (side or bottom) and where the pipe comes from (floor, wall or runs along the wall). Use angled valves for side inlets when the pipe rises from below or for bottom inlets where the pipe comes out of the wall. Corner valves suit side inlets with pipework coming straight out of the wall or bottom inlets where pipes run along the wall. Straight valves are for side inlets with pipework running along the wall, or bottom inlets where the pipe comes up from the floor.

Thermostatic valves let you set and maintain a specific temperature, saving energy and keeping towels consistently warm, so they’re ideal if you want precise control. Manual valves are simpler, often less expensive and suit systems where you control temperature centrally or prefer a traditional cross-head look. For most bathrooms a thermostatic valve is worth the small extra cost; pick manual if you want the simpler aesthetic or already use a room thermostat.

Choose chromed valves for a classic, easy-to-clean look that matches chrome taps; brushed brass or polished brass works beautifully with warm, period-style fittings; anthracite or black offers a contemporary, matte statement. The lockshield balances the system and normally sits opposite the control valve; 20 products in the range include a lockshield while 19 don’t. If you’re fitting a new radiator or replacing both connections, buy a pack with a lockshield so you have both valves matched. If you’re only swapping a single worn valve and the lockshield on the other side is fine, you can buy the valve-only version.

Many DuraTherm valves in the range use 15mm connections, and most product titles show "15mm," so measure your existing pipe diameter to confirm. Also check inlet position on your radiator (side or bottom) and where the pipe comes from (wall, floor or along the wall) to choose angled, corner or straight. a 15mm copper pipe rising from the floor into the bottom of a towel rail needs a straight 15mm valve.
