If you regularly have large pots or bakeware, a full-size appliance gives you more flexibility; if your kitchen space is tight, the slimline still provides useful programmes and adjustable racks. Look at your typical daily load and your kitchen cabinet width to match the right width and capacity.

Prima promotes efficient performance, but the current models in our range range from energy class C to E, so their running costs will be higher than newer A++ or A+++ machines; using the eco programme will cut water and electricity use compared with more intensive cycles. If you run the dishwasher less frequently and on eco mode, a Class C–E machine can still be economical, but if daily use is likely you may prefer to compare higher-rated alternatives. Remember the intensive programme is there for very dirty items, while the eco cycle is best for light-to-moderate loads.

For a small household or couple, the slimline PRDW300 (10 place settings) is a practical choice; a family of three to four will find the PRDW210 (12 place settings) suits everyday needs; and if you regularly host or have a larger family, the PRDW214 (14 place settings) gives the extra capacity. The adjustable racks in all models mean you can mix cups, plates and pots so you don't waste space when you have an irregular load.

Yes, Prima machines have spacious interiors and adjustable racks, plus an intensive programme specifically for heavily soiled cookware, so you can fit casserole dishes and larger pans by lowering or removing the top rack. lowering the upper basket will create enough vertical space for a roasting tin while the intensive cycle tackles baked-on food. If you frequently need to wash multiple large items at once, the full-size 598 mm models give you the most usable space.

Integrated dishwashers sit behind a kitchen door for a seamless, built-in look, the three Prima models shown are fully integrated, while freestanding machines have a finished cabinet front and can be moved or used independently. If you want a streamlined kitchen where the appliance blends with your units, integrated is the better look; if you rent, move home often, or prefer an appliance that can sit alone, a freestanding model is more flexible.
