You can operate the heater directly using its intuitive panel for day-to-day adjustments. If you want smartphone control and remote scheduling, add the Dimplex Control App Smart Hub plus an RFM transmitter; the hub is shown here at £160.08. With the hub you can set programmes and use features like adaptive start across one or several heaters, so you get full smart control rather than just local buttons.

The PLXE 2000W wall-mounted model is designed for medium to larger rooms — roughly 15–20 m2 in a normally insulated space based on typical guidance of around 100–130 W per m2. If your room has high ceilings, lots of glazing or poor insulation, you'll need more output; conversely a small, well-insulated bedroom will need much less than 2000W.

Adaptive start learns how long the heater takes to reach your target temperature and switches on earlier so the room is warm exactly when you want it. That prevents long periods of running at maximum power and avoids overheating through trial-and-error scheduling. For example, if you set the heater to be warm by 7.00 am, adaptive start might begin heating at 6.20 am so it finishes exactly at 7.00.

Dimplex panel radiators come in a contemporary white finish and are wall-mounted, with a selection of sizes to suit different rooms. Their slim, clean look sits well in modern kitchens, living rooms and corridors where you want a discreet heater that blends with white cabinetry or tiles. The wall-mounted format also keeps floorspace free, which is useful in compact kitchens.

You can use them as a main heat source in individual rooms, particularly in all-electric homes, and the 2000W model is capable of heating a medium to large living area. They also work well as supplementary heaters to boost a chilly room because of their quick response and smart scheduling. Bear in mind that the best choice depends on room size, insulation and how you plan to control the heaters.
