How do I decide between a single impeller and a twin impeller Showermate pump?

If you only need better pressure to one supply, you want stronger flow to a cold-fed electric shower, a single impeller (hot OR cold) is the right choice. If you want both your hot and cold supplies boosted, such as a mixer shower plus a basin or bath using both feeds, go for a twin impeller (hot AND cold). Twin pumps are included in our range across the range here and give more balanced performance when two outlets draw from different supplies.

What difference will 1.5, 2.0 or 2.6 bar make to my shower?

The higher the bar rating, the stronger the flow and spray you'll get at the showerhead. A 1.5 bar pump gives a gentle improvement suitable for small or single showers, 2.0 bar is a mid-range boost for most family bathrooms, and 2.6 bar delivers the firmest pressure for en-suite power showers or when two outlets might be used. a twin 2.6 bar model will sustain better flow if someone runs the basin while another uses the shower.

What's the difference between Positive Head and Universal installation types and how do you know which you need?

Positive Head pumps are intended for systems where the cold water tank or header is above the pump and provides a guaranteed gravity feed, while Universal pumps work with both positive (gravity) and negative (pump below tank or mains-fed) situations. The range here includes five Positive Head options and three Universal options, so if your cold tank is level with or above the pump you can fit a Positive Head; if you aren't sure or you have a mains/low-head setup, choose a Universal model. If in doubt, check the location of your cold water tank relative to the intended pump position or consult a plumber.

Are Stuart Turner Showermate pumps noisy, will they be OK in a small house or flat?

Stuart Turner promote the Showermate range as having a low noise output and being among the quietest pumps in the UK, so they're well suited to homes of all sizes, including flats and small houses. You'll still get some mechanical sound, but in most installations the noise is minimal and unobtrusive. If noise sensitivity is important, opt for a Positive Head model and site the pump in a cupboard or airing space to muffle residual sound.

Which Showermate model should I choose for a busy family bathroom with two outlets running at once?

For simultaneous use you'll want a twin impeller model with a higher bar rating; a twin 2.0 bar is a practical mid-range choice, and a twin 2.6 bar gives the strongest performance for two outlets. the Stuart Turner Showermate 2.6 Bar Twin Positive Impeller provides robust flow for a shower and basin running together, while still being one of the quieter options. Match the installation type (Positive Head or Universal) to your tank arrangement before selecting the bar rating.
