Designed for Positive Head Systems
This is one of Stuart Turner’s positive head shower pumps (twin impeller). It relies on an existing gravity-fed flow to activate, so the position of the cold water cistern in relation to the pump and shower is important. The supplied guidance calls for at least a metre of head between the pump and the bottom of the cistern.
Ask your installer to confirm that your system provides sufficient natural flow. A positive head pump may not activate reliably in a negative head installation.
Continuous Operation and Reduced Noise
The continuously rated motor is designed to run for as long as the connected outlet is being used, without stopping simply to cool down during a longer shower or a busy morning in a family home.
Stuart Turner also designs its peripheral shower pumps with noise in mind. The four supplied flexible hoses connect the pump to the incoming and outgoing pipework, helping to limit the vibration passed into the pipes and the surrounding structure. The pump will still make some sound while running.

Does this unit Stuart Turner 49085 replace Stuart Turner 49088? As you cannot find Stuart Turner 49088
The 49085 is a replacement for the 49088 , however the pump requires adequate flow to the pump as it is gravity fed and can supply to 4 outlets in the same room ie shower , basin , toilet , bidet. This is not a whole house pump.
