Description−
Timer controlled
Extractor fans with a built-in timer control means that the fan will operate with the bathroom light switch and then overrun for a set amount of time to continue removing moisture from the air. This is great for steamy bathrooms, allowing you to turn the light off but continue with extraction for a short time.
Recessed Design
Recessed fans can be installed through a wall, window or alternatively the ceiling giving you that extra bit of flexibility.
Axial
Axial type fans cause gas to flow through in an axial direction which is parallel to the shaft where the blades rotate, making the flow axial at exit and entry. Axial fans are designed to create a pressure difference and force which produces a flow through the fan.
IPX4 Rating
This product has a rating of IPX4 which means it is protected from water splashes from any angle.
Zone 1 Rated
IP rating stands for 'Ingress Protection rating' and this helps us determine what bathroom electricals can go in particular bathroom zones. An IP (Ingress Protection) number or code is used here in the UK to specify the environmental protection of enclosures around electronic equipment. These ratings are determined by specific tests.

Use in a Cloakroom or Bathroom
This type of fan is suitable for use in a cloakroom and a bathroom to give you an excellent flow rate.
The Simply Silent bathroom extractor fan range from Xpelair are exactly that, silent. They benefit from two speeds and two extraction rates, 53 or 74 cubic metres/hr which produce noise levels of 22 and 34 decibels respectively. To put that into perspective 22 decibels is slightly louder than rustling leaves. These really are one of the quietest operating fans on the market today.
The ease and flexibility of installation isn’t this fans only trick, it’s supplied complete with an wall kit comprising a 300mm telescopic wall tube and external grille.

It does run quietly, probably better than most. Install instructions clear but no mention of whether switched live overrides humidistat or vice versa. Also the install is more difficult than it could be because cable entry is low down one side, when the chances are the cable comes from directly above as fan is high up wall. Plenty of space inside for cable without squashing though. Provided duct was just about long enough to work in my cavity wall.
