Shower Curtain Rails

If you prefer the option of a shower curtain over a shower screen then you’re definitely in the right place. Showers can produce a lot of overspray at times so it’s important that this excess water is kept under control otherwise you risk ruining other parts of your bathroom. Shower curtains are great for doing this provided they’re installed correctly and you can’t get much better than one of our shower curtain rails. They’re strong, extremely durable and come in a huge range of designs and finished to suit all types of bathrooms.

How do I choose the right length for a shower curtain rail?

Measure the span you need the curtain to cover and match it to the included in our range lengths, 825 mm suits very small alcoves, 1735 mm and 2000 mm suit longer baths, and telescopic rails cover a range such as 1080–1850 mm or 1295–2298 mm so you can fine-tune the fit. If your bath edge or shower opening is slightly irregular, a telescopic rail will save you a trip back to the shop because it adjusts on site. Allow a few centimetres extra if you want the curtain to tuck inside the bath to prevent splash.

What's the difference between telescopic, curved and traditional round rails, and which is best for me?

Telescopic rails adjust in length, making them ideal for variable or awkward widths; curved rails bow out to give you extra elbow room and help keep spray inside; traditional round rails are rigid, very sturdy and often more decorative. If you have a standard adjustable opening choose telescopic, if you want more space in a shower-over-bath go curved, and if you want a statement, heavy-duty option pick a traditional round rail like the Hudson Reed model. Each type comes in chrome finishes here, so you can match the look across your bathroom.

Will chrome shower curtain rails cope with a humid bathroom or heavy use?

Yes, the rails shown are chrome-finished and described as strong and extremely durable, so they stand up well to everyday bathroom humidity and frequent use. Premium and SNL ranges are designed for more robust performance, so pick one of those if you have a busy household or hang heavier curtains. Regular wiping and good room ventilation will further protect the chrome finish and keep the rail moving smoothly.

Can the rails take a heavy, lined or thermal shower curtain?

Heavy or lined curtains are best paired with the sturdier rails in the range, the premium, SNL or traditional round rails offer the strength to carry extra weight without sagging. Use sturdy curtain rings such as the chrome C rings included in our range to ensure smooth gliding along the rail. For a thermal or blackout curtain that has a weighted hem, choose a premium rail to avoid droop and maintain easy movement.

I have a corner bath or an unusual layout, what rail options will work for irregular shapes?

A modular rail kit is designed for bespoke shapes and corners, letting you create an L-shape or multi-sided run to suit a corner bath. Alternatively, curved telescopic rails give you flexible fitting and the outward curve that keeps water off the floor while giving you room inside the shower. For a traditional look with a corner solution, you can combine a more rigid round rail with accessory brackets to achieve the shape you need.
