How do I choose the right tray size for my square shower enclosure?

Measure the internal width and depth of your enclosure and match the tray's longest and shortest side to those dimensions, common sizes here are 700, 760, 800, 900, 1000 and 1200 mm. if your enclosure is 800 x 800 mm, an 800 x 800 tray will sit neatly inside the frame. Allow a few millimetres for seals and profiles, and double-check the door swing so the tray edge doesn't obstruct the door.

What's the practical difference between low profile and raised trays, and which should I pick for an accessible bathroom?

Low profile trays (many are around 30 mm high) give a near-floor finish that reduces the trip risk and suits accessible or wet-room style bathrooms, while raised trays (heights up to around 140 mm) provide extra underside room for waste traps and retrofits. If you need level access for a wheelchair or minimal step for older family members, a 30 mm low profile tray is usually best. Choose a raised tray when your existing plumbing needs extra depth or you're replacing an older, higher tray.

How do the materials compare, acrylic, acrylic-capped ABS and acrylic-capped stone resin?

Acrylic trays are lightweight, warm to the touch and easy to clean but can scratch more easily; acrylic-capped ABS adds impact resistance and rigidity. Acrylic-capped stone resin offers the most solid, premium feel, better heat retention and durability, though it's heavier and often used in higher-end ranges like some Ideal Standard and stone-resin Mira options. If you want a sturdy, long-lasting surface underfoot choose stone resin; pick acrylic or ABS if you need a lighter tray for easier handling.

Are there colour options and how will the colour affect the look and upkeep of my bathroom?

Yes, besides white, trays come in finishes such as concrete grey, sand, jet black, cream and grey. White keeps the room feeling bright and is forgiving with soap residues, while darker tones like jet black create a striking contrast but will show water spots and limescale more readily. Match the tray to tiles and enclosure frames for a coordinated look; a concrete-grey tray pairs well with industrial tiles and matte black fittings.

Do these trays come with a waste, and will they work with my existing drain plumbing?

Many items in the range are included in our range "with waste," so a waste is often included, but you should check the product options for each model. Low profile trays may require a slimline waste and shallower trap, whereas raised trays give more room for a standard trap beneath the tray. If your drain position is fixed, confirm the waste location on the product details or ask for the tray with the compatible waste position to match your existing plumbing.
