How do I pick the right width for a vanity unit & toilet suite in a small cloakroom or a larger family bathroom?

Measure the available wall length and allow for door swing and clearance; compact options start around 400–600 mm basin widths and full suites from 950 mm, while mid-sized choices sit around 1,100–1,165 mm and large, storage-rich runs reach 1,564–1,820 mm. For a narrow cloakroom, a Ceramica Milan close coupled with a 550 mm vanity or an Affine Royan with a 400 mm unit will save space. If you want lots of storage and a cleaner run of units, a 1,120 mm or 1,720 mm back-to-wall suite such as the Artis Luna or Park Lane Winchester gives a much bigger surface and cupboard area.

What's the difference between back-to-wall and close coupled toilet suites, and which should I pick?

Back-to-wall toilets conceal the cistern within the unit for a neater, space-saving look and there are many back-to-wall options (about 54 included in our range), while close coupled toilets have the cistern sat directly on the pan and are simpler in profile. If you want a seamless run of furniture and hidden plumbing, a back-to-wall Alpine or Artis unit works well; if you prefer the more traditional shape and easier access to the cistern, the Ceramica Milan close coupled suite is a practical choice. Think about whether you value a minimalist aesthetic and extra cupboard space over the slightly simpler fitting of a close coupled pan.

Which finishes will make a small bathroom feel larger, and when should I pick oak or coloured finishes?

White gloss and light grey gloss finishes reflect light and visually expand compact rooms, so an Alpine white gloss 950–1,165 mm unit is ideal for a small bathroom. Choose oak or darker finishes, like oak wood or black, when you want a warmer, tactile feel; an oak 1,150 mm unit brings natural texture to a mid-sized bathroom. Coloured or brass-accented pieces, such as the Park Lane Winchester in green/ brass, work well as a focal feature in a guest cloakroom or larger family bathroom where you want personality.

Do these suites include storage and a basin, or will I need to buy extra pieces?

Most Modern Vanity Unit & Toilet Suites are sold as integrated packages that include the toilet, vanity unit and basin, so you won't need to buy a separate basin; options include Artis Centro and Alpine combined units. The vanity units provide cupboard space beneath the basin for essentials, and wider runs (1,120 mm and above) give noticeably more internal storage for toiletries and cleaning items. That integrated approach both saves you from purchasing items separately and gives a tidier appearance in a small room.

I have pipework on the left, how do I know if a suite is available in left- or right-hand configurations?

Look for left- and right-hand options on product products in our range; several models explicitly offer both orientations, the Artis Centro and Breeze ranges show left-hand and right-hand versions. If your plumbing exits on the left, pick a left-hand unit (or a suite described as left-hand) to avoid moving pipework; conversely, choose right-hand units where the services are on the other side.
