Also Worth Considering
This does work, reducing limescale and softening the water to an extent as soon as you have used up the untreated water in your tank. The previous reviews agree with my own experience. Reviews elsewhere mention a build up of white deposits in the tank - if these are chalk as reported then we know the product is working. It's much simpler and cheaper than a water softener.
The limescale preventer came well packed & very quickly after it had been ordered. Installation was very easy. No problems.
I hung this in the water tank near the inlet from a spare length of copper pipe. It is therefore only effective for water coming from the hot tap, or cold water for showers which is taken from the header tank. Within a day or two, we seemed to need less shampoo, and fittings in the shower did not scale up as quickly - but they do still scale up. Fernox recommend replacing every six months, and this may be what is needed in a hard water area we are on our third. So not totally effective, but good enough to be worth the cost compared with installing and running a water softener.
