How do I choose between a basin mixer, a tall/high basin mixer and pillar taps for my basin?

If your basin sits on a vanity unit or is a countertop style, a tall or high basin mixer gives the reach and height you need. A standard basin mixer suits most inset basins and offers single-handle temperature control. Pillar taps give a traditional look and are best for basins designed with two tap holes; they work well in period bathrooms but don't mix hot and cold in the spout. A countertop vessel would pair nicely with a Merano or Architeckt tall basin mixer, whereas a classic pedestal basin would suit pair-of-pillar taps.

How many tap holes does my basin or bath need, and what do the numbers mean?

The number of tap holes tells you how many separate fittings the product needs: single-lever mixers normally need 1 hole, twin-lever or pillar arrangements often need 2 holes, and separate spout-plus-controls require 3 holes. Baths with integrated diverters or thermostatic valves may need extra holes or a separate valve option; there are also options with 1 + 2 combinations for more complex setups. Match the tap-hole count on the product page to the pre-drilled holes in your basin or bath to avoid surprises.

I have low water pressure at home, which taps will work reliably?

Look for taps specified for Low pressure (0.1–0.4 bar), of which there are around 97 options, or those marked Suitable for All Systems. Many standard basin mixers will work on low pressure but some bath shower mixers and certain thermostatic valves perform better on medium or high pressure, so check the pressure suitability on each product.
