Which type of basin tap is best if you have a countertop or above-basin bowl?

Tall or high-rise basin mixers are made for above-basin bowls because they give the extra spout height and reach you need. A tall mixer sits on the basin or worktop and frees space under the bowl, giving a neat, modern look. If you prefer a minimalist wall appearance, wall-mounted basin taps are also available and keep the worktop clear. Check the spout reach and height against your bowl before you buy to ensure comfortable clearance.

How do I know how many tap holes my new basin tap will need?

Look at the tap holes required filter most taps need a single hole because mono-bloc mixers combine flow and temperature in one lever. Traditional pillar taps or three-piece sets will need two or three holes respectively, so count the holes on your basin or vanity first. Some mixes offer 1 + 2 configurations for combined basin and accessory fittings. If you have a freestanding or cloakroom basin, mini basin mixers are often single-hole and save space.

Are waterfall-style basin taps practical for everyday use and hard water areas?

Waterfall taps deliver a wide, decorative flow and there are about 15 waterfall designs in the range, but they can show limescale more readily than standard spouts because of the broader exposed surface. They look stunning in modern bathrooms, especially with a matching finish such as chrome or brushed brass, but require a little more regular wiping in hard water areas. If you have very hard water, favour chrome or brushed finishes and models with simple spout geometry for easier cleaning. For heavy limescale, a traditional fixed spout will be easier to keep pristine over time.

How do I match a basin tap to my home's water pressure?

Our basin tap range clearly states pressure suitability there are taps rated for low pressure (0.1–0.4 bar), medium (0.5–0.9 bars), high pressure (1 bar+) and many suitable for all systems. If you have a combi boiler or high-pressure system, pick a high-pressure or all-systems tap to get full flow. For older gravity-fed systems or cold-water tanks, look for the low-pressure labelled taps to avoid weak flow. When in doubt, choose an "suitable for all systems" model for the broadest compatibility.

Which finish will work best in my bathroom and how should I care for it?

Chrome is the most common and hard-wearing finish and cleans easily with a soft cloth, making it a safe, timeless choice. Matt black gives a bold, contemporary contrast but can show water spots; brushed brass hides fingerprints and pairs beautifully with warm tiles. Brushed finishes are forgiving for everyday use, while high-gloss chrome resists wear best in high-traffic cloakrooms. Whatever finish you pick, wipe regularly with a soft, damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners to keep the surface looking new.
