Will a traditional shower work with my home's water system, combi boiler, gravity system or something else?

Look at the shower's supply type label: many traditional showers are specified for High Pressure / Combi systems while a small number are for Low Pressure / Gravity fed systems (1) and several are marked Suitable For All (6). Mixer, digital and smart showers all need both hot and cold feeds, whereas an electric shower only needs a cold feed. If you have a combi boiler you can choose from most of the range; if you have a gravity-fed cylinder check for the LP / Gravity Fed or "Suitable For All" models before you buy.

What's the practical difference between exposed and concealed traditional showers, and which should you pick for style?

Exposed showers display pipework, controls and handles, giving a classic, authentic look that suits crosshead or lever handles and period bathrooms. Concealed showers hide pipework behind the wall for a cleaner, minimalist appearance, a concealed rainfall head in brushed brass, creates a discreet, luxurious feel. Both styles are available as dual-head thermostatic options, so you can have the traditional aesthetic you want while keeping modern temperature control.

How many outlets do I need, what do 1, 2 or 3 outlets actually do for your showering experience?

One outlet gives a single function such as a handset or fixed riser and suits a simple showering routine. Two outlets typically pair a rainfall head with a handset so you can switch between a drenching drencher and a handheld spray, or sometimes run both together. Three outlets add a third function like body jets or a bath filler, ideal if you want a spa-like experience with multiple sprays operating independently or in combination.

Are thermostatic valves and safety features worth the extra money for a traditional shower?

Yes,thermostatic valves, which many of the included in our range traditional showers use, keep water at a steady temperature even if pressure fluctuates, so you avoid sudden hot or cold bursts. If safety is a priority, look for "Cool Touch" models that stay cool to the touch and are ideal for children or vulnerable users, though most traditional models on this page do not include Cool Touch (No: 23). Thermostatic control also improves comfort if you want precise temperature settings for a relaxing shower.

Which shower head type and finish works best for a small contemporary bathroom versus a large traditional bathroom?

For a small contemporary bathroom, a wall-mounted rainfall head paired with a handset in chrome or black gives a modern look without needing ceiling pipework; a Park Lane rainfall & handset dual-head in chrome is a good choice. For a larger traditional bathroom, a ceiling-mounted drencher or a prominent brushed brass exposed mixer with crosshead handles delivers the period character you want and fills the space visually. Finishes matter: chrome is timeless and low-maintenance, black reads contemporary, and brushed brass adds warmth and an antique feel.
