How do I choose between a low-profile (45mm) tray and a raised (140mm) tray for a 900 x 800 shower?

Low-profile trays (around 45mm) give a nearly flush, modern look and are easiest to step into, ideal if you want a sleek finish with a walk-in feel. Raised trays (about 140mm) sit above the floor and hide pipework or a standard waste trap if you don't have room in the floor void. If you have underfloor drainage or are fitting a tiled floor-to-tray transition, the low-profile Hydrolux or Clario options work well; choose a raised Hydrolux or Podium if you need extra depth to route waste without trenching the floor.

Which material should I pick, acrylic capped ABS or marble resin, for durability and appearance?

Acrylic capped ABS is lightweight, impact resistant and easy to clean, and it's the material used on most of the 900 x 800 trays here, so you'll get good durability at mid-range prices. Marble resin, like the Clario Volente offset quadrant, is heavier, gives a stone-like, premium look and feels solid underfoot, but it's typically more expensive. If you want a high-end aesthetic in a corner quadrant and don't mind the extra cost, choose marble resin; for everyday durability and easier handling, acrylic capped ABS is a sensible choice.

Do I need a non-slip tray, and which options come with it?

If you're concerned about safety, in a family bathroom or for older users, a non-slip surface reduces the risk of slips and is worth choosing. Two of the 900 x 800 trays included in our range are non-slip Podium models, including a low-profile non-slip at about the current product price and a raised non-slip at around the current product price. If you prioritise safety, look for those Podium non-slip versions; if the tray is for a guest cloakroom or low-use en-suite, the standard acrylic trays may be acceptable.

Does waste position matter, centre or corner, when selecting a 900 x 800 tray?

Yes, waste position matters because it affects where your pipework runs and how the shower tray aligns with the enclosure; four of the five trays have a centre waste, which suits a central drain arrangement. A corner waste, available on one offset quadrant option, works well if your existing plumbing is in a corner or if you want the enclosure to tuck neatly into a small space. Match the waste position to your bathroom's pipework location to avoid moving drains; choose a centre-waste rectangular tray if the soil pipe comes up in the middle of the room.

Should I choose a rectangular tray or an offset quadrant, and what does left-hand (LH) mean?

Pick a rectangular tray if you have a straight-walled enclosure or need the maximum flat showering area; four of the 900 x 800 options are rectangular and pair easily with rectangular doors. An offset quadrant, like the Clario Volente LH model, saves corner space and gives a curved front that suits tight layouts; LH means the curved quadrant sits on the left when you face the tray, so the straight edges are on the room's left side. If your door swings or your room layout favours a left-hand corner entry, choose the LH offset quadrant to fit the space neatly.
