What size oval mirror should you pick to suit a basin or vanity unit?

Aim for a mirror width close to the basin or vanity width so proportions feel balanced; the range here is typically 450mm, 500mm or 550mm wide, so a 500mm mirror works well above a standard single basin. For a tall, full-length look choose one of the 1000mm-high models if you want more reflection and presence, or a 650–800mm height for a compact wall above a basin. If you have a double vanity, place two 500 x 800mm mirrors side by side or choose a single wider 550 x 1000mm mirror for a statement finish.

Are the illuminated oval mirrors easy to operate and do they need wiring?

Most illuminated mirrors in our range have built-in LEDs and a touch sensor for simple on/off control; 20 models feature touch operation. Many of the lit mirrors are mains-powered, with 20 described as mains, so you'll usually need a 230V supply for the lighting and demister. If you prefer no wiring, there are seven non-illuminated options available, such as the standard Vale Designs mirrors.

What does a demister do and which mirrors include it?

A demister pad prevents steam from fogging the glass so you get a clear reflection after a hot shower; several LED models include a demister as a feature. Look for Artis and RAK models, such as the Artis Oval LED with Demister in 450 x 1000mm or 550 x 1000mm, which are specifically included in our range with that function. If you want a clear mirror every morning, pick one of the illuminated options that explicitly states demister.

Which finish should you pick to match your taps and bathroom style?

Match the mirror trim to your existing brass, chrome or black fixtures; finishes on offer include brushed brass, brushed gold, chrome, brushed nickel and matt black. For a warm, on-trend look go for brushed brass or gold with warm wood or stone, while chrome or nickel suits a classic, polished scheme; matt black pairs well with industrial or monochrome bathrooms. Several brands offer the same size in different finishes, Vale Designs and Artis provide 500 x 800mm and 450–550 x 1000mm sizes in multiple finishes.

Do any oval mirrors offer storage or adjustable features?

There is one mirrored cabinet in the range, the Croydex Tay single door cabinet at 450 x 650mm, which gives you internal shelving and a 100mm depth option for storage. A few standard mirrors are labelled adjustable, such as the Park Lane 500 x 700mm adjustable models that allow you to tilt the glass for the best angle. If you need both lighting and storage, combine a slim cabinet for concealment or choose a deeper illuminated mirror if you prefer integrated tech without visible storage.
