Oak Bath Panels

Measure the visible side length and the end width of your bath, then match those to the standard lengths on offer, common side lengths are 1700mm and 1800mm, and end panels are typically 700mm, 750mm or 800mm. Heights also vary (440–479mm, 480–499mm and 500–599mm) so check the bath rim-to-floor measurement to get a neat fit. If you have a standard 1700mm bath, a 1700mm side panel plus a 700mm or 750mm end panel (or a combined side & end pack) will usually work. Packs such as the Vitusso 1700/750mm are handy when both pieces are needed and guarantee a matching finish.

Solid or wooden oak panels give you natural grain, warm tones and unique character, but they tend to be pricier and need a bit more care to keep the finish looking its best. MDF, MFC and LDF oak-effect panels deliver a consistent oak look, are usually more moisture-stable and more affordable, Hudson Reed and many Vitusso items use MFC/LDF for bathroom durability. If you want authentic texture and are prepared to maintain it, wooden oak is beautiful; for a busy family bathroom where low maintenance matters, MFC or MDF oak-effect is a sensible choice.

Oak-effect panels made from MFC or moisture-treated MDF are designed to withstand typical bathroom humidity and are the safer choice for shower-over-bath areas. Untreated natural oak will need a good sealant and reliable ventilation to prevent warping over time, so use it where you can control moisture. For a shower-over-bath in a family bathroom, an MFC panel such as the Hudson Reed MFC options offers better long-term resilience.

Oak's warm, rich tones work well with neutral tiles, white sanitaryware and metallic finishes like brushed brass or matt black for contrast. For a cohesive look, pick panels with the same oak tone as your vanity or shelving, a 1700mm oak side panel paired with matching oak cabinets creates a calming, spa-like feel. If you prefer a modern look, choose a lighter oak-effect MDF panel and pair it with grey tiles and chrome fittings for crisp contrast.
