How do I work out what waste size you need for your shower tray or wet room?

Measure the diameter of the hole in your shower tray, many trays use a 90mm hole, which is the most common size shown here. If you have a linear channel, match the channel length to the width of your shower area; the Geberit CleanLine channels are offered for up to 90cm and up to 130cm. As a quick rule, an 800–900mm square tray will normally take a 90mm round waste, while a tiled wet room or walk-in shower often benefits from a linear channel sized to the shower span.

What is the difference between slim, high flow and fast flow wastes and which is best for you?

Slim wastes have a low profile and sit neatly under shallow trays, ideal if you have limited fall or a slim tray; Hydrolux and similar ranges offer these slim 90mm options. High flow and fast flow wastes are engineered to move larger volumes of water quickly, so they suit power showers or multi-head systems; examples in our range include Hydrolux High Flow and Hudson Reed Fast Flow 90mm wastes. If you run a powerful shower, go for high/fast flow; if you need a discreet look in a shallow tray, choose a slim waste.

Are there practical reasons to choose a shower channel instead of a round waste?

Yes. A channel gives a linear look and is ideal for wet rooms or tiled shower floors where you want water concentrated along one edge; Geberit CleanLine channels come in stainless steel, champagne and black chrome finishes and in lengths up to 130cm. Round 90mm wastes work perfectly with standard shower trays and are simpler to replace. If you're tiling across the floor and want a minimalist continuous drain, a channel is the better choice; for a tray that already has a central hole, a 90mm round waste is usually the simplest option.

Which finish should you pick so the waste matches your bathroom fittings?

Match the waste finish to your visible metalwork where possible: chrome for classic polished taps, brushed brass for warm, on-trend brass fittings, and black or black chrome for contemporary matte schemes. The range includes chrome, brushed brass, black, champagne and stainless steel options, so you can coordinate with mixers or make the waste a subtle contrast. pair chrome wastes with chrome shower valves, or choose a brushed brass waste to echo brass tapware for a unified look.

How do you keep a shower waste draining well without specialist tools?

Regularly remove the waste cover or grate and clear out hair and soap build-up; most round 90mm wastes and channel covers are designed for straightforward access. For channel drains, lift the cover and clear the tray and trap area of debris, then rinse with warm water to wash away residue. Doing that every few weeks prevents slow drainage and keeps the system working as intended.
