How do I pick the right tray size for my bathroom layout?

Measure the floor space where the shower will sit and match it to the common sizes on offer, such as 700, 760, 800, 900, 1000 or 1200mm sides. For a small ensuite a 700 or 760mm tray works well; an average family bathroom often uses 800 or 900mm; choose 1000–1200mm if you want a more spacious walk-in feel. Remember these trays are square so the two dimensions are the same and they are ideal for corner or alcove installations. Also check where your shower enclosure or glass panel will sit so the tray edge aligns with the door.

What's the difference between acrylic, acrylic-capped ABS and stone resin trays?

Acrylic trays are lightweight and finished in crisp white so they're easy to lift and install, while acrylic-capped ABS offers a rigid base with a durable acrylic surface. Acrylic-capped stone resin gives a much firmer, heavier feel, better heat retention and natural finishes such as slate, concrete grey, sand or jet black. Stone resin tends to be more expensive but looks and feels premium; acrylic is budget friendly and simple to handle. If you want a contemporary coloured finish or ultra-flat profile, the stone-resin and branded i.life ranges give more options.

How does tray height affect accessibility and drainage?

These low-profile trays come in heights from about 25mm to 45mm, with 25mm and 30mm giving the lowest threshold for near-level access and easy step-in. Taller depths like 40–45mm provide more internal fall so water drains faster and make it easier to access the waste for maintenance. If you need almost flush access for mobility, go for the 25–30mm or the wet-room profile; if you want quicker drainage and easier pipe access, choose 40–45mm.

Should I choose a non-slip tray?

If safety is a priority,young children, older adults or a busy family bathroom,you should favour the non-slip options, which are available on many models (26 non-slip versus 17 plain). Non-slip finishes are offered across sizes and materials, including Podium and Ideal Standard non-slip ranges, and they add grip without spoiling the look. For a master ensuite you might pick a smooth finish for a sleeker aesthetic, but match it to other safety measures if you do.

What difference does centre waste versus corner waste make?

Centre waste is the standard choice and suits symmetrical enclosures and central drain runs, while corner waste is useful if your existing soil/drain runs are at the corner or you're fitting the tray into a tight corner. Most trays included in our range have a centre waste and only a few offer corner waste, so check the specific model,Mira Flight and some Hydrolux options offer corner waste variants. If you have a corner-positioned shower door or want to align the tray waste with an existing pipe, a corner waste tray will save you extra pipework.
