Comfort Height Toilets

We use our toilets every day, so it’s important that they not only look good as part of the bathroom suite, but it’s comfortable, too. Because even if we don't immediately think so, we all just toilets by style. That's where Comfort Height Toilets come in. Comfort Height Close Coupled Toilets are the best of both worlds, they look just as stylish as any other toilet we sell and come with all the same features but they have the added benefit of being that bit taller. This could be a major benefit for taller people or even those with restricted mobility as they involve less effort to sit down on and less effort to stand back up. Luxury soft close toilet seats are of course included too.

What exactly is a comfort height toilet and how tall are they?

A comfort height toilet has a taller pan than a standard toilet so you sit and stand with less effort, which helps taller people and those with limited mobility. On this range you'll see pan heights around 435mm, 450mm and the common 460mm, so you can match your height and mobility needs. If you're around 6ft tall or find low seats uncomfortable, a 460mm pan will feel noticeably easier to use. Many models keep the same stylish look as standard toilets while offering that extra seat height.

What's the difference between close coupled, back-to-wall and high level cistern comfort height toilets?

Close coupled toilets have the cistern mounted directly on the pan and are the most common option here, offering a compact, straightforward installation. Back-to-wall toilets conceal the trap and sit flush against a cupboard or stud wall for a neater look, such as the Affine Bordeaux II. High level cisterns are traditional and decorative, like the Hudson Reed Richmond, that gives a period look with the cistern mounted higher on the wall. Choose close coupled for simplicity, back-to-wall for a clean modern finish, and high level if you want classic styling.

Are rimless pans worth choosing and what are the pros and cons?

Rimless pans, offered on several models such as the Ceramica Arles and Affine Amelie, direct the flush around the bowl for better hygiene and easier cleaning because there is no hidden rim to harbour dirt. They usually flush more efficiently around the bowl, but can feel slightly different in water coverage compared with boxed rims. If you want minimal cleaning and a contemporary look, rimless is a strong choice; if you prefer a traditional flush pattern, a boxed rim remains perfectly functional.

Do these comfort height toilets come with soft close seats and can I get different colours?

Many of the toilets in this collection include luxury soft close seats as standard, so the lid closes quietly and you avoid slamming. There are also factory-fitted colour options on some ranges like the Fitzroy PRO is available with white, blue or grey seats if you want a distinctive pop of colour. If a soft close seat is important, check the product details because a few models are listed without soft close seats.

My bathroom is small, how do I choose pan projection and shape to save space?

Look for short projection pans if you have limited floor space; two of the models here are listed as short projection while most are standard projection. Pan shape matters too D-shape pans are slightly more space-efficient towards the wall, while standard oval pans feel roomier around the seat; you'll find five D-shape options and six standard ovals in this range. Choose a D-shape short projection pan if you have a narrow cloakroom to gain a few extra centimetres without sacrificing comfort.
