Are click vinyl floors suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes. Many of the ranges here are SPC click vinyl, which is highly water-resistant and well suited to kitchens and bathrooms — for example the Starline and Amiata SPC options. Because the click system forms a floating floor, seams can still be exposed to moisture, so for very wet rooms you might favour SPC tiles with tighter joints or use a product specifically labelled for wet-room use. For a typical family bathroom, an Amiata Concrete Grey SPC plank will give you a waterproof, hard-wearing surface that's simple to maintain.

How do I work out how many packs or square metres I need?

Measure the room length × width to get the area in square metres, then compare that with the pack coverage shown on each product (for example many packs cover 1.49m², 1.86m², 2.17m² or 2.29m²). Add 5–10% for cutting waste, or 10–15% if you're laying a pattern such as chevron. Example: a 4.5m² kitchen with a 1.49m² pack would need 4 packs (1.49 × 3 = 4.47m² too tight; 4 packs = 5.96m² allowing waste).

What's the difference between wood-effect, stone-effect and patterned click vinyl?

Wood-effect planks mimic timber grain and warm a room, making them ideal for open-plan living and kitchens, while stone- or marble-effect tiles choices combined give a cooler, contemporary look suited to bathrooms and modern kitchens. Patterned or chevron options such as Prespa, Bolsena or Como create a strong decorative statement and need extra material for matching. Pick wood-effect if you want a cosy, natural feel; choose stone or marble for a sleek, easy-to-clean surface.

What is SPC click vinyl and why might I choose it over standard vinyl?

SPC means Stone Plastic Composite — a rigid, dense core beneath the vinyl surface that gives extra dimensional stability and resistance to dents. You'll find SPC in many Starline and Amiata lines on the site, often at very competitive prices around £32–£52/m² for common designs. SPC performs well under heavy furniture and in high-traffic areas, whereas standard flexible vinyl is slightly softer underfoot and can feel quieter; choose SPC when you need toughness and stability.

How do I choose the right plank or tile size for my room?

Larger planks such as 1210 × 220mm or 1210 × 190mm lengthen and visually widen rooms, so they work well in open-plan kitchens and long hallways; smaller tiles like 605 × 304mm suit compact bathrooms or to copy a tiled look. For a galley kitchen, long 1210mm planks in a light oak tone will make the space feel longer, while a 605 × 304mm slate tile gives a more traditional kitchen-utility appearance. Consider the scale of your room and the pattern you want — chevrons and herringbone need more careful layout and extra material.
