Basin Pedestals

A full pedestal sits under the whole basin and gives extra physical support while hiding the plumbing. A half pedestal is flat at the rear and only conceals the waste pipe, so the basin must be supported by wall fixings or brackets; the RAK Compact Half Pedestal fits both 460mm and 550mm basins. If you want extra under-basin support and a traditional look, a full pedestal suits family bathrooms; choose a half pedestal for a neater, space-saving look in a cloakroom.

Match the pedestal to your basin width: the Compact Small Full Pedestal is designed for 460mm basins and the Compact Large Full Pedestal for 550mm basins. If you have a 460mm basin and prefer a slimline finish, you can also use the Compact Half Pedestal, which fits both 460mm and 550mm models. Measure the width of your basin across the rim to be sure; if it's about 460mm buy the small, if it's about 550mm buy the large.

Yes. Both full and half pedestals conceal the unsightly waste pipe, but they do it differently: a full pedestal hides the whole underside of the basin and gives a more seamless, traditional appearance, while a half pedestal covers just the pipe at the wall and keeps the room feeling more open.
