Installing underfloor heating into your home can be an incredibly smart thing to do, as it not only makes your home much warmer in the colder months, it can also cut the cost of your heating bills, too! And let’s face it, who wouldn’t want that at the moment? When it comes to installing your underfloor heating, you may want some extra insulation to provide a little more warmth, and that’s where our range of Warmup Insulation Boards steps in.

Warmup Insulation Boards offer an incredibly water resistant, insulated tile backer board made. Our range are made from high-quality extruded polystyrene, which is faced on both sides with a fibreglass mesh embedded into a thin cement polymer mortar. These convenient insulation boards can withstand a load of 30 tonnes per square metre and are also ideal for use with underfloor heating as they prevent the heat from penetrating down into the substrate below. As a wall tile backer board, tiles can be fixed directly onto the surface without prior preparation, and, being totally waterproof, it is also suitable for bathrooms or showers! So, when it comes to stepping out of your shower on a cold, crisp wintry day; you can feel confident in the knowledge that you’ll be stepping into the warm embrace of a heated room.

Are Warmup Insulation Boards compatible with underfloor heating systems you might already have, like electric mats or water pipes?

Yes. The boards are designed for use with underfloor heating and stop heat sinking into the substrate below, so they work with both electric heating mats and wet pipe systems. Their extruded polystyrene core with fibreglass-mesh-faced cement polymer mortar ensures stable heat transfer into your floor finish, which is particularly useful if you plan tiled floors.

Can you fix tiles straight onto these boards in a bathroom or shower?

You can. The boards are a tile backer board faced both sides with fibreglass mesh embedded in thin cement polymer mortar, so tiles can be fixed directly onto the surface without prior preparation. Because they are totally waterproof, they are suitable for use in bathrooms and wet enclosures like showers.

Will adding these insulation boards make a noticeable difference to your heating bills or room warmth?

Yes. By preventing heat from penetrating down into the substrate, the boards keep more of your underfloor heating's warmth where you want it, in the room, which improves efficiency and can reduce running costs. In a tiled bathroom, the board helps the heat reach the tiled surface faster rather than being lost into the subfloor.

Are the boards strong enough for a bathroom floor with heavy fixtures like a bath or vanity?

They are very robust, rated to withstand a load of 30 tonnes per square metre, so they comfortably take typical domestic fixtures such as baths, vanity units and foot traffic. That high compressive strength makes them suitable for most bathroom layouts where you want a heated, tiled floor.

What are the boards made from and are they an energy-efficient, sustainable choice?

The core is extruded polystyrene faced both sides with fibreglass mesh embedded into a thin cement polymer mortar, giving waterproofing and thermal performance. Warmup promotes cleaner, more sustainable heating solutions, and using an insulated tile backer reduces heat loss and helps your underfloor heating work more efficiently, which is a practical energy-saving measure.
