Desperately searching toilet seat that fits
Pros: product quality
Cons: poor printed quality of the diagram
I have to confess that I’ve never imagined that getting a new toilet seat will be such an adventure. I naively thought that I will be able to easily update my toilet. Went to my three local DIY stores, and was actually quite shocked to see that non of the toilet seats had their dimensions indicated anywhere on the packaging. Only a brief description stating that “fits most standard toilets”. How vague can this be? I decided to buy one of them, keeping my fingers crossed that my toilet was “standard”. Unfortunately for me, it wasn’t the case, the seat was far too short. Makes me think that “standard” toilets must not be the norm. Just as a thought, if you’re a woman, next time you use a pub / restaurant’s toilets: I bet you the seat you’ll sit on will be too short.
I really thought that buying locally will save me the hassle of paying some carriage and wait for my order to turn up, but all in all, I’ve actually wasted more money and time.
I knew I would not be able to get a seat if I carried on with my DIY stores, so my last chance was to find something from an internet store. I found Plumbworld, and gave it a try.
With the information provided on the website, I was able to check that the seat dimensions fit my toilet before placing my order, which turned up within 2 days only (I was able to choose a delivery date that suited me).
I am very happy with the seat. I have to say that it is difficult to tell the quality of a seat just by a picture, but I was pleasantly surprise when it was delivered. The seat and lid have a nice smooth curve. The seat is sturdy and very comfortable. I fitted it in less than 10 mins. Just took me a little while to work out how to assemble the hinges, as the diagram that was printed on the plastic bag was of very poor quality.
What more can I ask for? A+ service, I will definitively order from Plumbworld again.
