How do I know which connection type (angled, corner, straight or universal) your valve needs for your radiator?

Look at where the pipework meets your radiator. If the pipe comes up from the floor you need a straight connection; if it runs along the wall and enters the side, choose a straight for side inlet with wall-run pipework or corner for pipework entering from the wall into a corner. An angled connection is for side inlets with pipework coming from below or bottom inlets with pipework from the wall. Universal heads will fit most layouts if you're unsure or want a single spare that suits several radiators.

Should you buy a smart valve, a thermostatic valve or a manual valve?

Smart valves give app control, learning schedules, open-window detection and energy monitoring so you can manage rooms from your phone or smart speaker; they suit you if you want remote control and data-driven savings. Thermostatic valves micro-manage room temperature automatically but lack remote features, which is fine if you only need local, automatic control. Manual heads are cheapest and simplest for fixed set-and-forget needs. For a modern, cost-conscious home the smart option is best; for a single spare radiator, a thermostatic or manual head may be perfectly adequate.

Will these smart radiator valves work with your existing smart home devices and boiler?

Many models here integrate with smart speakers such as Alexa and Google Hubs and offer dedicated apps for phone control, with brands like Honeywell, Hive, Netatmo and Worcester Bosch represented. Some systems, the Worcester EasyControl packs, include a central controller or thermostat that ties valves into the rest of your heating system. If you rely on voice control or multi-zone scheduling, choose a model from those brands and check whether the kit includes a gateway or pairs directly via Wi‑Fi. Honeywell's Evohome and multi-zone kits are examples designed specifically for wireless, multi-radiator setups.

How many valves should you buy, a single, a 3‑pack or a 4‑pack?

Aim to fit a valve on every radiator in the rooms you want separate control over; a single valve is fine for trialling one room, while 3‑ or 4‑packs cover multiple rooms at once. The range includes singles like the Radbot at around the current product price and packs such as Worcester's 3‑pack with a thermostat or Honeywell's four‑pack, so you can scale by budget. If you want whole-house room-by-room control, buy enough valves to match each radiator; if you're prioritising living spaces, start with those and expand later.

Will smart radiator valves actually reduce your heating bills?

Yes, the smart features described, such as scheduling, learning your living patterns, open-window detection and energy monitoring, let you avoid heating empty rooms and run radiators only when needed. Controlling valves from your phone or via voice means you can lower temperatures instantly if plans change, and multi-zone setups help target heat where it's used most. Real savings depend on how many radiators you control and how you use schedules, but the catalogue highlights these features specifically to help you cut consumption and cost.
