How long does it take to heat up.?
There isn't an exact amount of time that can be quoted here as it would depend on the conditions, however, I would expect that after around 5 to 10 minutes, it'll be warm enough to dry towels comfortably, and by ~15 minutes you should be close to its full output (unless it’s constrained by ambient conditions or other factors).

I am unsure if it has an on/off switch. How do I switch it on or off? It looks as though it has no switch and has to be on all the time?
If you wanted it to be able to turn on and off, you would need to wire it into a face plate with a switch.
Almost a perfect fit onto the previous fittings, saving a complete refit.
