How do I choose the right size and heat output for my room?

Measure the wall space you have and note the room type, then look at radiator heights and widths, common heights here include 600mm, 1200mm and 1800mm, while widths range from about 185mm up to 1420mm. Match the radiator's BTU output to the room: the range on offer spans small outputs (1–999) up to large (7000–7999), and many models sit in the 2000–3999 band suitable for average living rooms. If you need more heat but have little wall space, pick a taller vertical model or a double/triple panel version to increase output without a big width. A narrow 280mm-wide vertical at 1800mm tall gives more warmth than a short, wide single panel of the same width.

What is the difference between single, double and triple panel radiators and which should I get?

Single panels offer the shallowest projection and suit smaller rooms or where you want a slim profile; double panels have two parallel panels and one or two convector fins for medium rooms; triple panels add more convector fins and the largest projection to maximise heat output for larger spaces. If you have a compact bathroom, a single panel vertical will save space and warm quickly; for an open-plan living area choose a double or triple panel to hit higher BTU requirements. Bear in mind that more panels give higher output but take up more depth from the wall.

Are aluminium radiators compatible with my existing heating system and are they durable?

Yes, these aluminium radiators are described as compatible with all heating systems, and their corrosion-resistant material gives excellent durability and fast heat conductivity so they warm up quickly. They're also very lightweight, which makes them easier to move and position during installation, and many come with a reassuring 10-year warranty. If you have a modern combi boiler or a central heating system, an aluminium model will perform well and respond quickly to your controls.

Which finishes and profiles look best in a kitchen or bathroom?

You can choose from a wide palette, White, Anthracite, Black, Grey, Polished Aluminium, Bronze and Brass are all available, plus mixed options such as White with Brushed Brass trim. Flat profiles give a clean, contemporary look ideal for modern kitchens, while oval and curved profiles soften the feel in bathrooms; column profiles suit more traditional spaces. A polished aluminium flat radiator will complement stainless steel kitchen appliances, whereas an anthracite curved model makes a bold, tactile statement in a tiled bathroom.

Should I go vertical or horizontal and when does each work best?

Vertical radiators are popular options and work effectively in practically every room in the house. There are plenty of vertical options on our site and they're perfect where floor-to-ceiling height is available but wall width is limited, making a striking focal point in narrow spaces. Horizontal radiators work well under windows or along long runs of wall and tend to sit lower for traditional layouts. Use a tall 1800mm vertical radiator in a narrow hallway, and choose a 600mm-high horizontal unit under a kitchen window to keep splash zones clear.
