I was surprised as Plumb World were over 50% cheaper than anybody else. Well, the product is great ( it was to replaces a life expired unit). Arrived in 2 days and excellent packaging. Thanks Guys, I will be using your Company again.
This was a replacement for an earlier Greenwood fan which had given many years service. Easy to got, same fixing centres and quieter than the original
It replaced a similar Greenwood fan which used the same base plate making installation easy.
The old one used an external flap shutter which high winds buffeted disturbing sleep.
I left the external flap which now doesn't flap in the wind as the closed automatic shutter stops the air flow.
My auto shutter takes 40-45 sec to open and 85-95 sec to close.
I ordered the wrong one initially I returned it and got the correct one; both were delivered quickly, Plumbworld gave me a full refund, much appreciated.
I bought this to replace an existing fan which allowed a lot of wind through and was consequently noisy. I didn't expect it to completely solve the noise as some of it comes from the external vent which is not part of this assembly. Installation was quite easy although the screw fixings did not happen to match those of the old fan. There is an excellent rubber seal provided to go between the wall and the base plate. The wiring method is much better than I have seen before in that all the connections are made to the base plate which can then remain permanently on the wall. The motor assembly and top cover then plug into a connector automatically when applied to the base plate. This means that you don't have to disconnect any wiring in order to clean or maintain the fan. Clever design! In use the fan does exactly what it's supposed to. The vents open about a minute after the fan starts and close after the fan stops. It extracts a lot more air than the fan it replaced, which was also new.
Overall a great product and the bonus is it looks very neat.
I replaced a lower spec Greenwood unit with this one in an effort to overcome a condensation problem in a shower room and it works a treat. The nifty shutters open and close automatically to keep out draughts and whilst it does come with a bit more fan noise, the performance is worth it; just turn down the timer run on to stop it becoming annoying after you leave the room. I am very low on the tech front and managed to fit this easily myself, I have even given instructions to a colleague who i recommended to buy one...sadly I am now an extractor fan expert!
I was trying to be clever and shorted my old extractor fan by attempting to clean it with steam cleaner, as steam is what extractor fan deals with, but I was wrong? Please AVOID this, and follow manufacturer's instruction on this.
Anyway, I ordered this greenwood to replace existing greenwood for ease of wiring and replacement. Replacement was easy as expected but you have to allow time for additional tasks like cleaning the duct and external grille.
It would also be nice to have a little extra information on the ant-draught shutters in the info leaflet other than a one--line mention that says: 'The Airvac Elite range are fitted with electric operated anti-draught shutters which have a time delay to open or close'.
?delay?? A bit more info would help?
