How do I choose the right material for a single bowl sink?

Look at how you use the sink and the look you want. Stainless steel is practical, easy to clean and appears across the range in budget models at a lower to mid-range price point up to the current product price, making it a good everyday choice. Granite composite gives colour and a stone-like look in options such as Reginox Harlem10 and the Amsterdam ranges, and it's hardwearing with shades like black, grey and white. Ceramic or fireclay suits a traditional or farmhouse style and is available in apron-front or Belfast shapes for a classic feel.

What sink size will give me enough capacity without overwhelming my worktop?

Compare the sink's length and width ranges to your available worktop space; the range includes many sinks in lengths of 400–999 mm and widths commonly in the 400–599 mm bands. Bowl depth is also important for capacity: most models fall in the 200–299 mm depth range, which balances washing space with under-sink room. a 500 mm wide, 220 mm deep single bowl gives plenty of room for plates and pans while still leaving sensible cupboard space underneath.

Should I choose a sink with a drainer or one without?

Think about whether you need built-in drying space or prefer uninterrupted worktop. There are many no-drainer options if you want a clean, minimalist look or extra prep area, these work well on islands or small kitchens. If you need a drainer, you can find left-only, right-only or reversible left-or-right drainers, which give flexibility depending on where your draining area sits.

How deep should the bowl be if I often wash large pans but still want usable storage below?

Deeper bowls increase capacity but reduce the usable space under the sink for traps, filters or storage. Most single bowls are 200–299 mm deep, which is a comfortable middle ground for washing larger cookware while still leaving room beneath. If you regularly soak tall roasting tins you might favour the fewer 300–399 mm depth sinks, but expect less clearance for under-sink items.

Which brands and price points offer the best mix of quality and features?

There are strong options across budgets: stainless steel entry-level sinks from brands like Sauber and Reginox start around the current product price and are practical and well rated. Mid-range to premium granite composite and integrated models from Reginox and Sauber sit in the the current product price+ range and often include a drainer and waste. Look at product pages that show ratings and included components if you want a sink that already comes with a waste or drainer for better value.
