Do You Really Need A Boiling Hot Water Tap?

If you think waiting for the kettle to boil is convenient then you need to get with the times and purchase one of our boiling hot water taps. They’re fantastically efficient and you get boiling water any time you want at an instant.

They aren’t just used for hot drinks either, steam your vegetables, get your pasta started, sterilise baby bottles, remove labels easily from bottles for recycling or simply make that pot noddle you’ve been craving.

 

Is A Boiling Hot Water Tap Expensive?

They aren’t going to be as cheap as a standard kitchen mixer tap but let’s face it they only produce cold and hot water and you need to wait a while in some instances for both of those! Our InSinkErator kits start at just under £500 and come with all the essentials you need to get one fitted in your kitchen. The water is filtered too so impurities and limescale are greatly reduced so you can have better tasting drinks. You certainly won’t get that with a standard kitchen tap.

Installation is relatively cheap too with only a plumber being required. Most units come with a plug which we can all just about figure out.

 

Are Boiling Hot Water Taps Safe?

Safety is paramount when it comes to dealing with such high temperatures which is why most taps will have a safety feature on the lever to ensure it’s only used when you want to use it. In most taps you’ll need to hold the lever on to ensure it stays running.

What's the difference between 2-in-1, 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 boiling water taps, and which one will suit your kitchen?

The numbers tell you how many functions the tap provides: 2-in-1 typically pairs instant boiling with filtered cold water, 3-in-1 gives boiling plus your normal hot and cold mixer, and 4-in-1 adds a chilled or separately filtered cold supply as well. If you want a simple kettle replacement and a filtered drink tap, a 2-in-1 or a 3-in-1 (many InSinkErator 3-in-1 models) will do the job; choose a 4-in-1, such as the InSinkErator 4-in-1 Touch, if you also want chilled water from one fitting. Think about how much bench space and plumbing runs you want under the sink, because more functions usually mean an extra tank or chiller.

How often will I need to change filters and are replacements easy to get?

Replacement filters are sold alongside the taps and spare parts in the kitchen tap filters category, so you can get the right cartridge for your model. Typical usage and water hardness usually mean swapping the filter every 6 to 12 months if you rely on the tap for drinking water every day. To make life easier, match the filter part number to your tap model — for example, InSinkErator and Sauber models each have specific replacement cartridges listed.

Which finish should I choose so the tap looks good and hides marks?

Think about both style and maintenance: chrome is bright and classic but can show watermarks, while brushed finishes, brushed steel, brass or copper hide fingerprints and light limescale better and suit traditional or industrial kitchens. Black and pewter offer a bold, modern look and pair well with dark worktops, as seen in the black InSinkErator and Sauber options, while brushed brass or copper Sauber Elise make a strong warm statement if you want a feature tap. Match the finish to your existing handles and appliances for a harmonious look and choose a brushed finish if you prefer lower-maintenance appearance.

Will a boiling water tap and its tank fit under my sink?

Many models come with a compact under-sink tank — you'll see NeoTank and black tanks paired with InSinkErator and Sauber taps on the list — and they're designed to sit in a standard kitchen cupboard. You should measure the cupboard height and depth and compare it with the specific product's tank dimensions on the listing, because some 4-in-1 units that include a chiller require more space. If you have a slim cupboard or inside-drawers, a tankless or smaller-tank option (look for "with NeoTank" versus tankless variants) may be the better choice.

Are boiling water taps safe to use around children?

Modern boiling water taps commonly include safety features such as childproof push-and-turn handles or safety locks and insulated spouts to reduce scald risk; several of the featured brands offer these protections. Always check the individual model's safety specifications — for example, look at the InSinkErator and Sauber product descriptions — and place the tap where you can control access, such as away from where small children play. For extra peace of mind, consider a model with a mechanical safety lock rather than touch-only activation.
