Which size should you buy — the 7/4kg or the 8/4kg Electrolux built-in model?

The first number is wash capacity and the second is dry capacity, so the 7/4kg washes up to 7kg and dries up to 4kg, and the 8/4kg washes 8kg and dries 4kg. If you live alone or as a couple and mostly wash shirts, underwear and light bedding, the 7/4kg will usually be enough. If you have a small family or do larger weekly washes, the extra wash capacity of the 8kg model gives you more flexibility, though you still need to split large wet loads before drying. a full 8kg cotton wash may need to be split into two 4kg drying loads.

Will the 4kg drying capacity cope with towels and bedding?

A 4kg dry capacity suits everyday items like shirts, small towels and lightweight throws, but it is too small for large loads of bath towels or big bedding sets. If you regularly want to dry heavy cotton towels or duvets, you will either need to run two drying cycles or use a separate tumble dryer. For occasional towel drying you can still use the machine effectively; dry a few towels and a couple of smaller items in one 4kg load.

How do SensiCare and DualCare protect my clothes?

SensiCare measures the size of each load and adjusts washing time, water and energy so garments are not over-washed, which helps them last longer. DualCare then sets the best temperature and drum movement for different fabrics, giving delicate items gentler handling while still cleaning cottons thoroughly. So if you wash mixed laundry, delicates receive a softer drum action and lower temperature automatically, reducing wear and shrinkage.

Is a 1600rpm spin speed useful for a washer dryer?

Yes; a 1600rpm spin extracts more water during the spin cycle, so clothes come out drier and the subsequent drying stage is shorter and more energy efficient. That is particularly helpful for heavy fabrics such as towels and jeans where faster spin reduces drying time. If you have delicate items you can rely on the machine's fabric programmes to lower spin speeds or use DualCare for gentler drum action.

Are Electrolux built-in washer dryers suitable for an open-plan kitchen?

They are a good fit because the models are built-in for seamless integration and are designed to operate quietly, so they won't dominate an open-plan space. The quiet operation means you can run a wash or a quick Wash & Dry 60-minute cycle without disturbing conversation or TV. If you value a tidy kitchen look and low noise, a built-in Electrolux washer dryer is a practical choice.
