What's the practical difference between a built-in microwave and a freestanding one, and which should you choose?

Built-in microwaves are offered in widths around 594–596 mm and heights commonly near 382 mm, so they sit flush within a run of kitchen units for a seamless look — ideal if you want a minimalist finished kitchen. Freestanding models, such as the Bosch Series 2 combination, give you more flexibility to move the appliance and are often slightly shallower or deeper depending on the model. If you're planning a new fitted kitchen and want a streamlined aesthetic, a built-in black model from Neff or Bosch will match the cabinetry; if you rent or change layouts often, a freestanding Prima or Candy will suit you better.

How do I pick the right size and capacity for my household?

Sizes on our range from compact 17–21 litre cavities up to 35–36 litres, so choose 17–21 litres for one or two people who mainly reheat and defrost, and 25–36 litres if you cook larger dishes or for a family.
