Close coupled toilets are where the water cistern sits on the rear of the pan which is in turn fitted to the floor. Our ranges of contemporary close coupled toilets come in all shapes and sizes to suit all style and bathroom suites. Rounded and square designs are most common and come with flush fitting toilet seats to match. They all benefit from a water saving dual flush cistern so you can reduce your water usage and in turn your water bill if you’re on a meter. Our range of close coupled toilets are available for fitting flat against the wall or into a corner depending on which installation suits you best.

How do I choose the right projection and pan width so the toilet fits comfortably in my bathroom?

Measure the distance from the finished wall to the front of any fixtures or doors; many close coupled toilets come as short projection (19 models) or standard projection (14 models), and total projections on this range run from around 555mm up to about 785mm. Check the pan width too — most options fall in the 301–350mm and 351–400mm bands — so you can be sure it will clear nearby cupboards or a basin. For a small cloakroom, a short-projection or corner close coupled model (there are three corner options) will give you extra floor space. If you have a larger family bathroom you might favour a standard projection pan for more seating room and a balanced look.

What are the practical differences between rimless and box-rim toilets, and which should I choose for hygiene?

Rimless toilets lack the hidden lip where muck collects, so they’re easier to clean and often produce a more direct, effective flush that removes waste better. Box-rim designs can be cheaper and still work well, but they do require more brushing under the rim. If hygiene and low-maintenance cleaning matter to you for example in a family bathroom or en suite — a rimless option such as the Ceramica or Affine rimless models is a sensible choice. Comfort height pans a little higher than standard pans , making it easier to sit down and stand up — a real help if you’re taller or have reduced mobility. These are ideal for cloakrooms and tiny ensuites where a separate basin would be awkward. You still get a soft-close seat on most of these models, and the compact design keeps plumbing tidy while giving you hand-washing without extra floor space.

Match the seat shape to the pan — D-shape pans, square pans and standard oval pans all need corresponding seats, so check the pan shape before buying a replacement or an upgrade.
