3 Exciting New Bathroom Trends for 2020
A new year often means our thoughts turn to some fresh new home renovations! For many, revamping the bathroom is one of the top priorities - especially for those who feel like their suite is looking a little stale.
So, for this month's edition of our Expert Writers, we're here to help you out! We asked Jen Stanbrook of the award-winning home interiors blog, Love Chic Living, to give us the lowdown on some of the most exciting bathroom trends for 2020.
Read on for some expert inspiration for your bathroom renovation in 2020!
The bathroom isn’t a room where we frequently attempt big makeovers, so when we do, we want to get it right.
We want to embrace current trends so it feels fresh and new, but we also want to ensure the design will stand the test of time.
If you’re about to embark on a bathroom refresh, you will want to know what’s hot in the world of bathroom design. You may be surprised. You may be excited. You may be horrified. But armed with these ideas you will be able to create the bathroom of your dreams – a room that suits both you, your family and your home perfectly.
With the move to a more sustainable way of life we are using more and more pre-loved, vintage and recycled pieces in our home décor. The bathroom is no exception.
Home lovers are more and more aware of sourcing responsibly designed home interiors, and furnishing their homes with older pieces, reusing and repurposing items where they can.
The bathroom is the perfect place to include such pieces. Think about older stools and chairs, bathroom storage, wall accessories, artwork, bathroom mirrors and bathroom cabinets which can all be sourced from online marketplaces, flea markets, car boot sales or your local community groups.
It’s a perfect way to create a unique, personality fuelled bathroom interior and help save the planet at the same time.
Coloured Bathroom Suites
If not, you might be horrified at the thought of a coloured suite. But we do think this could be a trend that catches on.
Imagine a pale grey suite or a lighter pastel bath. Think about the burst of colour and how you could decorate the room around it. Think about the bathroom accessories and how you could bring the room to life.
There are all kinds of possibilities and whilst we think this could catch on, you might like to start by introducing some grey vanity units to ease yourself in gently.
Eclectic Boho Styling
With the popularity of sites like Instagram and Pinterest, the home lover has become more and more confident in interior design. Blogs like ours aim to give ideas and inspiration so you can create a home which you adore.
So, as a result, we tend to see more impactful design in bathrooms – interiors which push boundaries and barriers. In 2020, we predict a wave of more creative, eclectic bathroom interiors showcasing personality and flair.
Anything goes with this type of décor. Think maximalist tendencies, lots of colour clashing, big wallpaper designs, tonnes of plants and an array of differing textures.
It’s truly an ‘out of this world’ look – one which embraces a love of creative design and unusual styling. There’s no judgment with this style, just pure, unadulterated wonder!
