Why do I need a Thermostatic Radiator Valve?

If you’ve ever used a thermostatic shower you’ll be aware of the shower automatically stopping a rise or reduction in temperature once a maximum pre-set temperature has been reached. It then monitors the temperature to keep it balanced, even if a water source is being used elsewhere in the building. A TRV works in a similar way, although instead the water flow to the radiator is cut off once a pre-set maximum temperature has been achieved. When the radiator cools, the water flow resumes to bring the radiator back up to temperature again.

The temperature is set using a dial on the TRV.
