New bathroom
As we were installing a new bathroom suite, including a large shower cubicle, we needed to control the humidity in the bathroom as a means of reducing condensation.
The Xpelaire DX100HP does just that. It is really quiet so that you just do not notice that it is running. Good job as if you leave the window open the the fan senses the external air, which is usually above about 85%RH, and it just keeps running. But if the window is closed it takes about 30 - 45 minutes to remove the excess humidity from the bathroom.
A good purchase for us.

Qualified Success
A 100mm fan ... yet buried in the manual text (no You Will Need section) it lets on you need a 115mm hole - bang goes my specially ordered 100mm core drill.
Why are the controls (timeout, humidity level) not mounted externally and accessibly? Why do I need a screwdiver? Why are the pluses and minuses counter-intuitive and not annotated?
Why is there an On switch (pull cord) but no Off switch? In some warm moist weather the thing never turns off. It goes day and night, like the lights on a Volvo.
The unit does make a definite whirring rushing noise. Maybe a different model (or this 15W model with a speed switch) could have a 7W setting and a relatively larger fan working at a slower, quieter speed.
The manual has a lot of annoying safety guff which is placed to obstruct sensible reading (I want to open the box and know what to do, not receive a lecture). Worst of all, it goes on to insist, in bold, that the unit is cleaned only by a qualified electrician, once a month. Let's think about this. An electrician charges £40-70 callout in my neck of the woods, plus £25 per 15 minutes. An outlay of £60-100 per month to maintain my Xpelair. I don't think so. Yet presumably not doing so voids the guarantee. Not a nice trick.
But it was nicely packed, shiny, and everything fitted together - the manual did say, at the end of its instructions about boring the hole in the wall, that I should make the outer hole lower, but not by how much. I allowed an inch, which was too much, so I had to use undue force, though successfully. However, the 300mm of pipe supplied was not really long enough and again had to be bodged, which didn't improve my appreciation of such an otherwise nicely-made product.
