Product Description

Lifetime Warranty Warmup Safety Approvals

BEST SUITED FOR: Ceramic Tile & Natural Stone in small, irregular-shaped areas

Warmup design their systems using a 2mm, ultra-thin, dual-core heating element. The small cross-section of our element allows it to be installed in a matter of hours without raising floor levels.

There is no need to dig up the floor and no need to mix concrete. Simply fix our heating element to the subfloor, tile straight over and say goodbye to cold feet for good!

There are 4 packs sizes available, the largest pack is the DWS800 which can cover up to 5.9m². Multiple packs can be used together to cover a larger space (up to a maximum of 25m²). For example to cover a flooring space of up to 17.4m² you would use 3 x DWS800 packs.

FAQ

Can I use the system under any type of flooring?
No. The Warmup® system is designed for use with stone or ceramic tiles only. The heat output of the system may cause other types of flooring such as, wood, laminate, lino and cork to warp or lift.

What accounts for the wide square meterage ranges on the Warmup® products?
Warmup has four sizes of heater, a 300 watt, 400 watt, 600 watt and an 800 watt heater, each with a different linear length of heating element. These heaters can be combined to cover any area that needs to be heated. By altering the spacing between the wire, the linear length of heating element can cover varying areas.

The installation manual will specify the wire spacing needed in order for the heater to fit your required space. The Warmup® Underfloor Heater is freeform cable and works in much the same way as the rear defroster on a car (which makes it perfect for fitting around obstacles such as the toilet/vanity unit).

The heating element cannot be cut and the length cannot be altered as their resistances are pre-set at the Warmup factory, and altering them will cause a system failure.

How long does the floor take to heat up?
How long the floor takes to heat up depends on the construction of the subfloor. Uninsulated concrete subfloors will take considerably longer than insulated plywood subfloors for instance. For a rough guideline refer to the table below:

Subfloor construction Heat-up time
WBP Plywood on timber 1 hr
WBP plywood with insulated tile backer board - 10mm 0.5 hr
Insulated concrete - insulation under screed 2 - 5+ hrs
Un-insulated concrete 2 - 8+ hrs
Concrete with insulated tile backer board- 10mm 1 hr
Concrete with insulated tile backer board - 50mm 0.5 hr

I have already laid my tiles, can I still use Warmup® Underfloor Heating to heat my floor?
The Warmup® Underfloor Heating system is designed to sit within the tile adhesive between the subfloor and the tiles. The system cannot therefore be fitted retroactively, unless you tile on tile.

Do I need specialist skills to install the Warmup® system?
No specialist skills are required to fix the heater to the floor. The Warmup® system is designed so that any contractor, or competent do it yourselfer, can install it. The kit comes with a comprehensive installation manual and Wamrup have a 24/7 customer support line. If you need any assistance either prior to, or during, installation give Wamrup a ring on 0845 345 2288.

As with all electrical projects which are subject to Part P Building Regulations, all electrical work must be carried out by a certified electrician and must conform to BS 7671:1192, the current IEE Wiring Regulations.

What if my area to be heated exceeds 25 square metres?
The Warmup® XSTAT Thermostat has a resistive load of 16 amps and therefore the maximum number of heaters that can run through one thermostat is 4 x DWS800 (13.4 amps - 25m²).

For areas in excess of 25m² you must run the heaters through a relay (which allows for multiple circuits) and one thermostat.

If unsure discuss with your electrician to determine the best course of action for your situation.  We recommend use of multiple thermostats for ease of installation, as it is the floor temperature being measured, and not the ambient air temperature.  The thermostats do not have to be visible.

How soon after installation can I switch the system on?
The heater should not be made fully operational until such time as the tile or concrete installer has confirmed that the cement materials (i.e. adhesive & grout) are fully dried. This may be anything from 1-3 weeks. Turning the system on too early could lead to the cement drying out too quickly, creating an unstable subfloor.

Can I use the Warmup® Underfloor Heating system as the sole heat source?
YES - If your room is well insulated, complies with modern insulation levels as set out in the current building regulations and 100% of your floor is covered with Warmup® Underfloor Heating.

NO - If your house is an older property with lower insulation levels, you are probably best to install an additional source of heat.

The only way to be completely sure if you need an additional heat source is to seek advice from an architect or HVAC specialist.
