Stainless steel is an astounding material - attractive, sparkling, timeless and easy to clean!

Säuber manufactures sinks using the latest technology and the best performance stainless steel material 18/10. Stainless steel is resistant to corrosion and rust and is extremely hygienic.

Not all Stainless Steel is the same!

When comparing stainless steel sinks the most important thing to ask the supplier is the quality of
the stainless steel used in the manufacturing process. There are two main stainless steel production
systems in use, t304 and t409.

The t304 system is more expensive because it is made to be more durable and is a much higher quality.
This is the type of stainless steel used in cars, high precision equipment and top brand kitchen sinks.

The difference between the two systems is the amount of Chromium and Nickel (both expensive) used in the
production process. T304 stainless steel will contain 18% to 20% Chromium and between 8% to 10% Nickel.
The inferior t409 stainless steel contains just 10% to 12% Chromium and 0.5% Nickel.

Top quality stainless steel sinks like those made by Franke and Sauber use only T304 stainless steel.
Some lower quality brands are using t409 and some Chinese factories are even using Stainless Steel 202
or 430 to make sinks. This material costs half as much as t304 but will almost certainly show signs
of rust after less than 12 months use.

The simplest way to tell the quality of the stainless steel used in a sink is with a magnet. Lower quality
stainless steel contains mainly ferrous material and the magnet will stick it. T304 stainless contains so much
Chromium and Nickel that magnets will not stick to it.

All Sauber Stainless Steel sinks are made from t304 stainless steel throughout.

Heat Resistance
Heat resistance is crucial for any kitchen sink material. This poses no problem to stainless steel which remains perfect an unblemished whilst other materials crack and peel.

Durability
Stainless steel is an extremely durable material that no other material(composite, marble etc.) can compare to in daily demands. It will endure for years to come many sharp objects, pressure and impacts.
