The Effects of Limescale
Limescale builds up in heat exchangers, pipes, pumps, boilers and appliances connected to the system. This usually results in reduced flow rates, loss of efficiency, and early failure of components.

To ensure maximum whole household protection, always install the Hydroflow HS38 on the cold pipe in to whatever is heating the water NOT ON THE COLD WATER MAINS.
How it Works
Randomly varying electric fields are induced into the water. These fields propagate through the water in the entire plumbing system. When the water is heated, the resulting precipitate that usually deposits on hot surfaces, forms in suspension and develops as a crystal on the nuclei and is then washed away in the flow.
The fields treat the water both up and down stream and will be transmitted into the central heating system to treat the primary water. The treated water is normally able to dissolve existing scale in just a few months.

Is HydroFLOW HS38 easy to install?
There is no need to cut pipes, or drain down your system. The unit simply clips to the pipe, and is plugged in or wired into the electric supply and switched on. Installation is very straightforward.
What is the maximum pipe size that the HydroFLOW HS38 will fit on?
A custom made strap is provided which fits up to 28mm outside diameter. However if required the unit can fit a pipe size of up to 38mm outside diameter (without the use of the strap).
Where should I fit the HydroFLOW HS38?
Due to the unique way that HydroFLOW trasmits the signal up and down the whole water system, we recommend that the unit be installed on the cold feed to the heat exchanger. In the case of a traditional gravity-fed system, this would be the down pipe between the cold water storage tank and the hot water cylinder. With a mains pressure system, the unit should be fitted on the cold feed, just before it enters the heat exchanger.
Is an electric supply required?
Yes, in the UK there are two versions of power supply. The HydroFLOW HS38 “A” version is one that requires an electrician or qualified person to wire it into a fused spur. The HydroFLOW HS38 “B” version has a 13amp plug with an in-built transformer that can be plugged into a suitable socket.PLEASE NOTE that this HS38 is a 240V 50Hz model designed for the UK market, and will not operate outside the UK.
After fitting Hydroflow, will the water be as drinkable as before?
HydroFLOW does not change the chemical composition of the water in any way. It works purely on a physical basis, leaving the water completely drinkable. Essential minerals are retained in the water. Unlike water softeners, it is not necessary to provide a separate untreated drinking supply.
Will HydroFLOW descale, as well as prevent scale?
Yes, although it may be a gradual process over a period of months. The way in which HydroFLOW prevents limescale from forming on pipework also increases the solvicity of water - meaning that any limescale which had already formed will gradually dissolve. However, not all scale is limescale. Some scale cannot be dissolved and can only be removed by acid cleaning. Once a system is cleaned it is less likely to scale up again.
Will HydroFLOW HS38 protect the cold water going to the kitchen etc?
Yes, HydroFLOW is not dependent on water flow, like other devices. The water does NOT have to flow past the unit to be treated. Rather than taking the water to the treatment, we are taking the treatment to the water. Our patented signal transmits along conductive materials, e.g. water or metal, and therefore throughout the whole system (primary and secondary), protecting it 24 hours a day
How much does HydroFLOW HS38 cost to run?
HydroFLOW only uses a maximum power of 1.2 watts when connected via it 12v AC transformer. This is approximately just over £1 a year in the UK. This price, however, depends on the current electricity prices.
How can I tell if HydroFLOW HS38 is working?
The bright red light on the unit is powered by the signal itself, and can be relied upon to indicate that the system is being protected.
What is the life expectancy of HydroFLOW?
HydroFLOW units contain solid state technology with no moving or mechanical parts. The units are manufactured to ISO 9002 standard and each is fully tested. Properly installed, HydroFLOW will give many years of trouble free service.
Does HydroFLOW protect the central heating system?
Yes. With a traditional system, the signal transmits through the water in the cylinder and the copper cylinder itself, via the heat exchange coil into the water inside the central heating system (primary system) - thereby protecting the boiler and other components. With a combi system, the signal transmits throughout the combi boiler into the central heating system.
How far does the signal travel?
In a typical domestic plumbing system, the effective treatment area is a 10-metre radius from the unit. This 10-metre zone refers to the size of the property rather that pipe lengths. HydroFLOW is certainly powerful enough to treat large properties with up to three bathrooms.
Does HydroFLOW work on plastic and lead pipes?
Yes, the technology ensures that the unique field is induced longitudinally directly into the water, and propagates through the entire system regardless of the type of pipework material.
Does the signal have an effect on sensitive electrical equipment?
No, the signal is a long wave radio signal on a frequency of 120-140KHz and conforms to European Directives including the Low Voltage Directive. Therefore sensitive electrical equipment such as pacemakers will not be affected.
Can I stop using salts in the dishwasher?
No, we advise that dishwashers be operated precisely as recommended by the manufacturer.
Does HydroFLOW soften the water?
Physical water conditioners are not water softeners, and therefore do not provide chemically soft water. However, since dissolved minerals and salts in heated water are taken out of solution and clustered by the physical water conditioner, the water will become slightly softer and you will find that soap is easier to lather.
Is HydroFLOW HS38 fully guaranteed?
There is a one year fit-for-purpose warranty, and a three guarantee, so you can install HydroFLOW with the utmost confidence.
this product as easy to install, but only time will tell how effective it is. i will write another review to update at a later date

Effective and good value solution to hard water
Pros: effective for the price, reasonably small and discete, very easy to install
Cons: doesn't remove 100% limescale
Hard to believe this works... ..but it does. I live in a hard water area (SE4) and had to descale the shower screen, chrome etc on weekly basis. While I still need to clean off scale, its reduced the amount by about 70-80% which has made it much easier to keep clean and the bathroom/kitchen etc just looks a lot better. It takes about 5 mins to install. Not entirely sure how it works though....

Does what they say it does
when I ordered the water conditioner I was rather concerned thet this little gadget was just another hype story but we were pleasantly suprised within 2 days we could feel the difference skin and hair became softer and we were using far less shampoo for the same lather great product I have recommended it to 2 friends who have both purchased the conditioner and they are experiancing the same results excellent buy
